Do you have a YouTube channel with more than 1000 subscribers? Then this update is for you.
Starting from August 2019, YouTube will stop showing full subscriber count instead it will begin showing abbreviated public subscriber counts across all public channels.
These changes will also affect 3rd parties using YouTube API Services.
For example, if you have a YouTube channel with “123,050” Subscribers, the public subscriber count will read this as “123K” until the count reaches 124,000.
What exactly will this look like?

Here is what the counts will look like:
- If a channel has 1,554 subscribers, the public subscriber count will read “1.5k” until the channel reaches 1,600.
- If a channel has 123,050 subscribers, the public subscriber count will read “123K” until the channel reaches 124,000.
- If a channel has 98,569,454, the public subscriber count will read “98M” until the channel reaches 99,000,000.
Subscribers counts describes the channel popularity in YouTube which is extremely important to measure the performance as well.
YouTube notifies this update in advance to its users, YouTube also said it will share more specific details directly with creators before august 2019.
