What is TS ICET Counselling?

TS ICET Counselling, also known as TG ICET Counselling, is the admission process through which qualified candidates secure seats in MBA and MCA programs offered by universities such as Osmania University, Kakatiya University, and their affiliated colleges.

The process is conducted largely online and includes registration, counselling fee payment, slot booking, certificate verification at Helpline Centres (HLCs), web option entry, and seat allotment.

Final seat allotments are made based on a candidate’s rank, reservation category, preferred college choices, and seat availability.

Why it matters: TS ICET counselling plays a crucial role in admission because more than 200 colleges participate in the process, while quality seats remain limited. A better rank improves your chances of securing admission into top colleges, whereas poor planning during counselling can result in fewer options or missing out on preferred institutions altogether.

  • TS ICET rank
  • Reservation category
  • College preference
  • Seat availability
  • Local or non-local status

Unlike the entrance exam, TS ICET counselling requires careful planning and informed decision-making.

Many students with good ranks fail to secure admission into their preferred colleges because they do not fully understand the web option entry process and college selection strategy.

TS ICET Counselling Process: Step-by-Step

There are five stages to the TS ICET Counselling. If a student fails to follow these steps, it will adversely affect their chances. Let’s look at each step in detail.

Step 1: Online Registration and Fee Payment

After the results have been published, the first thing you need to do is log in to the official website and register for the counselling process.

  • Visit tgicet.nic.in
  • Click on the “Counselling Registration” link on the homepage
  • Enter the TS ICET Hall Ticket Number, Date of Birth, Rank, Mobile Number, and Email ID
  • Upload all required documents in the prescribed format and size
  • Pay the online counselling processing fee using net banking, debit card, or credit card

Counselling Fee:

  • General/OC category: ₹1,200
  • SC/ST and Reserved categories: ₹600

Once the payment is accepted, you’ll receive the login ID and password via SMS to the registered mobile number. A confirmation email will be sent, print and save it as it will be needed throughout the process.

Step 2: Slot Booking

After you have registered, please attend a face-to-face visit to the designated Helpline Centre (HLC) to check your documents.

This step is mandatory. You choose your preferred date and centre location during the slot booking process.

Students will be required to appear on the scheduled date with all original documents for verification and will receive a verification receipt after the process is completed.

Important: Biometric Verification (Fingerprint Scan of Aadhaar) is also conducted at the helpline centre, and the candidate must be accompanied throughout the process.

Step 3:Document Requirement

Ts icet counselling required documents

Certificate verification is the most critical offline step in TS ICET Counselling.

Officials will cross-check all your original documents at the designated Helpline Centre.

If any document is missing or found invalid, you will not be allowed to proceed to the web option entry stage.

Documents required for the verification of the TS ICET Certificate (bring originals)

  • TS ICET hall ticket
  • TS ICET rank card
  • Degree marks memos
  • Provisional certificate
  • Intermediate marks memo
  • SSC certificate
  • Aadhaar card
  • Income certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Residence certificate
  • Transfer certificate

Always carry:

  • Original documents
  • Two or three sets of photocopies

Many students face delays due to missing certificates. Well-structured documents during verification save time.

For non-local candidates, a residential certificate from either parent, issued by the Tahsildar, is required, showing continuous residence in Telangana for 10 years (excluding periods of employment outside the state).

Pro Tip: On arrival at the helpline centre, you should have more than one set of photocopies made and have all the documents attested. Any missing paper means disqualification from that round.

Step 4: Web Options Entry (Choice Filling)

Once your certificates are verified, the real strategy begins — filling in your web options.

Web options entry is the stage where you rank colleges and courses according to your preferences.

The TGCHE system then matches your choices with available seats, your rank, and applicable reservation criteria to generate the seat allotment.

How to Fill Web Options

  • Log in using your Login ID at tgicet.nic.in

  • Lock (freeze) your options before the final submission deadline

For a clear step-by-step guide on freezing and locking web options: 👉 TG ICET 2025 Counselling – How to Freeze Web Options | MY3 Academy

Step 5: Seat Allotment, Fee Payment & Reporting

Once the web option window closes, TGCHE will analyse the data and announce the TS ICET Seat Allotment Result.

Allotment is based on:

  • Your TS ICET rank
  • College and course preferences submitted during counselling
  • Seat availability in each participating college
  • Reservation category and local or non-local status
  • TS ICET cutoff ranks for individual colleges and courses

After being assigned a seat, be sure to:

  • Pay the required fee online through the counselling portal within the specified deadline
  • Complete self-reporting on the portal to confirm acceptance of the allotted seat
  • Submit the allotment letter and fee payment receipt to the allotted college during reporting

Your provisional allotment will be cancelled if the fee is not paid or if you do not self-report before the deadline.

Counselling Phases: First, Final, and Special Round

TS ICET Counselling was conducted in three rounds.

Phase 1 (First Phase): This is the primary counselling round and offers the highest number of available seats. It is intended for the most eligible candidates.

Final Phase: This round is for candidates who were not allotted seats in Phase 1 or who wish to opt for a different college. Some candidates who receive allotments in Phase 1 also participate to upgrade to a better college.

Special Phase (Spot Round): This is a limited round conducted to fill seats that remain vacant after the Final Phase. A spot round is not guaranteed every year and is announced by TGCHE based on seat availability.

Note: The Special Phase ran from 5 to 13 October 2025. Candidates were allowed to enrol in the other phases even without a certificate, subject to certain conditions.

How Seat Allotment Works: What Really Determines Your College

Many students think that rank is the most important factor when choosing a college. This is not strictly true.

There are several other factors that should be considered before making a final decision, all of which are discussed below.

  • TS ICET rank is the primary factor in seat allotment, with candidates considered in rank order
  • The system allocates the highest-ranked eligible college and course preference available to each candidate
  • Reservation policies apply across categories such as OC, BC, SC, ST, and others within each college
  • Local and non-local status influences seat allocation, with many colleges reserving a significant percentage of seats for local candidates
  • Web option ranking reflects your preferences, and the system moves through your choices until an eligible seat is found
  • Entering a larger number of college and course options can improve the chances of securing a seat

Seat Cancellation and Withdrawal

If you are allotted a seat but wish to cancel, TGCHE allows candidates to withdraw within a prescribed window. To cancel your allotment, you need to report to the Convenor in person (or by registered post) and submit:

  • Cancellation request letter from the candidate
  • Application form for seat cancellation
  • Certificate verification receipt issued by the Help Line Centre (HLC)
  • Fee payment receipt
  • Latest provisional allotment letter

Please consult the official website for cancellation dates. For the most recent reporting date, there may be no seats available for cancellation.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During TS ICET Counselling

These are the mistakes which keep recurring every year:

  • Not checking the document list in advance can lead to disqualification if required certificates are missing or outdated
  • Entering too few web options increases the risk of not receiving a seat allotment
  • Ignoring the freeze deadline may result in unintended option preferences being submitted
  • Failing to track official website updates can cause candidates to miss revised schedules and important announcements
  • Missing the fee payment and self-reporting window can result in cancellation of the allotted seat

TS ICET Counselling is your final hurdle to MBA/MCA admission in Telangana. The position of the item should be as follows:
