5 dying programming languages in 2020

dying programming languages

With the changing times and the upcoming updating technologies many were buried down as taking upon by newer technologies. So, today let’s take a dive into these technologies and their initial stages. what are they? Which are they used for? And pretty much everything basic we need to know about them.

These are the list of 5 dying programming languages

Perl

ColdFusion

Haskell

Objective C

Ruby

Now let’s look into these programming languages in detail

Perl:

The Perl is a general-purpose high-level language. It is an older language used for back-end web development. It is designed for text processing. The problem with Perl is it has many variants and in this programming language the code can be used to reduce into smaller one.

Back in the days it was useful as there wasn’t much of the space available in computers and the code needed to be small, so it caused for the confusion in of the existence of the pro code and became a big mess. Perl is said to be as the compact code, so it is not readable this is also considered as one of the reasons. Now-a-days Perl is just used in some servers.

ColdFusion:

The ColdFusion is basically server-side programming language. It is mainly set up to be useful for web designers.  In this language the whole code looks like tags same as HTML. This is mostly friendly for web designers. ColdFusion was originally written in C and had its own tag library.

Due to the tag- based language it is difficult for the people to read and maintain the code. With the upcoming languages like PHP, java and python Cold Fusion is a little bit outdated. For the people, now it’s a better choice  to learn new languages with more efficiency.

Haskell:

The Haskell is a type full programming language. It is purely a functional language. Haskell is mainly focused on evaluating expressions rather than executing them. Haskell is really hard to learn and implement. Java, python,  C, C++ all come to the same area, but Haskell is different hence it is found hard to consume and be good at it. This language is immutable which makes the users more confused and complicated.

Objective C:

The Objective C is a primary programming language. It’s the super-set of C programming language. It lacks name-spacing considering it as one of the disadvantages. This language is syntactically verbose and complex. Also, by the known fact it is a fairly old language.

In this the bugs are hard to trace and sending the nil object without crashing is not quite sure. Basically, this objective is used by Apple, but they turned it to the swift which is more efficient programming language. So the major user of the objective C have turned their back and now it’s on the verge of fading away.

Ruby:

The Ruby is an interpreted object oriented, dynamically typed programming language. Automatic declaration of variables needs to read that doesn’t work, a method in subclass can override and its parent method’s visibility class are some of the disadvantages of this language.

In its early days this programming language has its huge popularity, but it faded with time as the new technologies came into existence. In 2018 ruby jobs declined by more than 56 percent. Having no sign of the language learning it has been the sign that the companies are also turning away from the language.

conclusion:

So, these are some of the languages which are on the verge of dying as now of the 2020 year. Though these languages were quite popular at their respective times and had their heights. These couldn’t make a mark for the long term and hence they came down due to their lack of efficiency or any other disadvantages.
